TIK TOK has become a very powerful promotion platform for everybody over the years especially during the pandemic area of 2020. We have seen a lot of random teenagers becoming huge international stars such as Kaby Laime or Charlie Damelo only with their creativity and their humor sense. The crazy thing about TIK TOK is that everyone can be the next Kaby Laime overnight. It just take a day, a night and the next morning your video reaches million views! It what just happened to Mardochée Faustin, a 24 years old Haitian Portrait artist, who has reached the bar of 5 million views for his exhibition art video.
Before his video blew up on TIK TOK, Mardochée Faustin had been just a young Haitian portrait artist trying to earn a living in a difficult country where art is misunderstood. He be doing this since years and his career had never took off before, oh well, maybe almost!
HIS ROODY ROOD BOY’S PORTRAIT BUZZ
Indeed, in 2018, he had a glimpse of success when he drew the famous Haitian urban star Roody Rood boy and the artwork post went viral on social media. At this time, he was just a high school student with the passion of art, and he had the idea to draw his favorite artist on the wall of his school. Instantly, the piece of art inspired the admiration of all student. Back then, Mardochée had no social media and could not post the picture on the internet in order to get more audience. Don’t worry about, his classmate had his back and posted it for him; afterwards, it automatically went viral on social media. People kept sharing the post on several platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Concerning Twitter, everybody knows that it’s the best way to reach out public figures easily and that’s how the Roody Rood boy’s cousin boyfriend found the picture and was amazed by the talent of this young boy! He sent it to the artist, and he loved it.
A simple picture of the wall is not enough, Roody asked to receive it physically. The first step is to contact the drawer and ask him to draw it again in a portable format with the frame! It was not so easy to get to someone out of the social media, but the Roody’s cousin boyfriend was determined to find Mardochée even it’s hopeless. Fortunately one day, he finally contacts the young portrait artist via his classmates.
Thus a month later, Roody received the piece of art and they took a photo together to be published on social media. Of course the photo went viral and people kept reposting it all over the internet. Everything was about to change when a web article came out telling that Roody Rood boy gave 5000 USD to Marcdochée for his artwork! It was all false although the article was already buzzing and even other media reposted the news on their platform. He also had some friends reproaching him not giving them a money that he even did not actually have! The buzz was so viral that it put Mardochée’s life in danger because a few days later, he got robbed in his neighborhood and for the first time in his life, he really felt insecure. That was the time for him to finally be on social media so that he can stop this cap!
Even if this lifetime was hard for him because there was too much pressure on a teenager, Mardochée regrets not have taken advantage of the buzz to make a lot of money and then use it to take his art career off. That’s why I decided to engage a manager after this area. Unfortunately, his manager left the country shortly and both went to separate ways.
HIS TERRIBLE DECEASE
Early this year, Mardochée got sick. His kidneys could not work properly, so he stayed in hospital for months. Thus, it could not draw at all and almost lost all his customers inquiries. It was almost over for him and his career but fortunately, he got out of the hospital. Although he’s still on recovery for months and his therapy was watching TIK TOK videos all day! That’s how he got on the app and then started to create art videos.
A TIK TOK RAISING ART STAR
He had posted a lot of videos on TIK TOK before he really blew up! His videos back the reached out 2k views at the most, sometimes less then 1k but he never discouraged and kept on producing new videos demonstration of his drawing skills. On June 12th he posted the video that will change all his perception of TIK TOK: He decided to create a video of an artwork made on an unfolded paper which each side represents a love scene. The video finishes with the phrase: “I LOVE YOU” written in the last side of the paper. The video first had a local success with a lot of reposts and collages, then the algorithm pushed it as far as it can go! Actually, it reached out the bar of 5 millions views and keeps on moving from country to country. He had a ton of shares and duos but he haven’t activated the gift option at time so that TIK TOK users can send him donations below the comment section of his famous video. He just activated it and hopes not losing this brand-new opportunity to take off his career internationally!
