Wakanda Forever just released worldwide on November 11th and how we expected the public adored the sequel! After the passing of the actor Chadwick Boseman who gave life to the T’Chala’s character in the first movie, everybody was impatient to know how the studio was going to fulfill this absence. With this new creation, Black Panther 2 is giving a historic recall for both Amerindians and Haitian civilization!
First thing to know about Black Panther, it’s not the first ever black character of the comic history! Lion Man was the first one and was released on the All-Negro Comics magazine in 1947. Stan Lee and the drawer Jack Kirby created the Wakanda’s leader in 1966 and made his first appearance in the Fantastic four’s comic book; however, the official comic series only got dropped in 1977.
The Wakanda forever’s movie gives reference to the occidental colonization of the Amerindian people throughout the years and how it affected their evolution as a civilization. The other thing to notice is the importance of Haiti, the first black country of the world, throughout the story. It’s where the T’chala’s wife found refuge after the passing of his husband. It’s the land of freedom, especially the Cap-Haitien’s city where she found stability and peace of mind far away from the Wakanda’s pressure.
Regarding the anthropic interpretation this fiction may have, some people agreed to say it depicts the Dahome’s kingdom (from Africa) where there was a king named “Black Panther”, the “Agasou loa” in the voodoo culture and Toussaint Louverture, the Haitian revolutionary, would have his roots from there. Maybe only Stan Lee himself can confirm this version but we all agree that Black Panther is more than just a movie!
